Laboratory Assistant Wanted for Well-Established Testing Lab (Full-Time, Hourly)

About the Company:
Microchem Laboratory is an established, respected commercial testing lab. It is located in Round Rock, Texas. The lab specializes in the testing of medical devices, personal care products, and antimicrobial agents such as disinfectants and medical devices. When this position is filled there will be approximately 40 people who work for the company.
About the Position:
Laboratory assistants at Microchem help scientists with all aspects of testing, primarily routine testing of personal care products. A college degree is not required for the Laboratory Assistant position, but a clean work history, reliable transportation, a positive and cooperative attitude, and an interest in science are required.
About the Interview Process:
A proficiency test may be given for general technical knowledge and laboratory-related math.
Monday through Friday, from approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some time may be spent working on weekends, as needed.
High-school diploma or equivalent
Genuine interest in science and interest in working in lab environment.
Understanding of basic scientific concepts.
Ability to be a self-starter.
Good work ethic.
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a small-company environment.
Ability to provide excellent, consistent customer service.
Associate's degree or other post-high school technical education.
Experience working in a laboratory environment.
Prior experience working in a regulated environment (GMP, GLP).
Proficiency in Libre Office, especially Calc.
Prepare media and reagents for use in testing.
Prepare microbiological cultures for use in testing.
Handle and maintain microbial cultures.
Wash and sterilize laboratory glassware and plasticware used in studies.
Interact directly with customers via phone, email and in person.
Prepare, complete and review datasheets and reports.
After training, conduct basic laboratory tests under supervision.
Assist with basic laboratory needs, such as cleaning, organization, or equipment validation.
Maintain and improve lab documents and record keeping procedures.
Assist with sales and marketing efforts as needed.
Interact with and provide detailed and accurate information to Accounting personnel.
Maintain a safe, fast-paced, and positive laboratory environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Pay is $10/hour or up to $12/hour if substantial previous lab experience
- Employees eligible for health and retirement benefits after 90 days.
